Originally when I booked my flight for Hawaii I thought I would easily find someone to come with me on holiday. I booked my flights way in advance and howay, who doesn’t wanna go to Hawaii, right?!
Air New Zealand had a sale on , so it cost me about $750 return for the package and great flight time times. I had no plan but I thought that if I was travelling all that way then I would be crazy to just stay in one place and not check out some of the other islands when I was so close. So then I booked flights to Big Island & Maui as well.
Each time I got paid and had some money I would book some accommodation or flights or a tour and eventually by the time I was due to go to Hawaii I had covered all my activities.
I’m a bit of a bargin hunter and love making the most of each day when travelling. I ended up setting up a Groupon account for USA and booking lots of trips and tours making a canny bit in savings so things I wanted to do and booking in for everything in advance which give me quite a full on plan for my trip such as Pearl Harbour Tour, Circle Island Tour, Whale Watching, Helicopter trip, Volcano tour so I had lots to look forward to.
I only needed spending money when I arrived for food / drinks / travel etc. The only thing you might not realise is that when you stay in America you also need to pay amenities tax when you check into the hotel which is usually about $20 a night.
Originally I booked to stay 3 nights Waikiki then Big Island 3 nights then Maui for 3 nights then back to Waikiki for 2 nights but things changed and I fell in love with Hawaii and changed my flights and stayed longer.
The beauty about travelling solo is that you make your own plan.
Never once on this trip travelling solo did I ever feeling lonely.
Stay tuned to find out what I get up to.
