Everyone has one of those friends that as soon as it’s pay day they go shopping and treat themselves and by the time you pay your rent and bills your wage is almost gone.
I have never been one of them people that earn a lot of money or has a lot of savings. If anything I usually lived month to month nor do I come from a rich family. I have often worked 2 jobs for extra cash.
I have learnt to budget.
Before I left the UK I was also a smoker but I promised myself I would quit before I went travelling. I couldn’t waste my money on smoking anymore if I wanted to travel the world. I am not saying it was easy. It was one of the toughest things I ever did. But that goal was the only thing that made me stop.
Back in the UK us geordie girls loved to have a new outfit every time we went out on the town but now my priorities had massively changed. When you have to pack you life into a suitcase you suddenly realise what you and can’t live without.
I decided i needed to:
- pay off my credit car debt
- work a second job
- quit smoking
- cut down on social drinking and eating out
- stop buying
- change my lifestyle
